ELP Class Field Trip, May 7-9

Friday morning we flew to Anchorage and visited the Anchorage Museum of Natural History before boarding the bus for the 3 hour ride to Kenai.

Saturday morning was the Moon Mission simulation at the Challenger Learning Center. The kids LOVED this....Piper was the mission's communications specialist.

In the afternoon we took a trip to the Nikiski Water Park (kids) and the Cook Inlet Shore (most adults), a beautiful day....Mt Redoubt was steaming/ smoking a bit.

Sunday we got up early to drive to Whittier and catch a boat tour of Prince William Sound . The kids had all kinds of activities/ classes to do on the boat...including a plankton tow & collecting seawater at depth to do salinity/ temp readings. NEAT!!  We saw sea otters, humpback whales, harbor seals, TONS of birds and a very active glacier.

We had a great time, but Piper and I were pretty wiped out when we got off the plane Sunday night. Amazing how much we were able to pack into the weekend!

Vintage

A 1968 Ski-Doo Super Alpine. These were the top of the line back in the day.

We picked this up as a restoration project for the "Tired Iron" Races here in Fairbanks.
